Higher Awareness Through Self-Pleasure?

When giving themselves pleasure, tantrics do things just a bit differently… Whether we’re talking about self-massage, or masturbation (“Self-cultivation”), tantrics take time to really feel each new sensation.

If you want to experience tantra, in love and in your daily life, become aware of physical sensations by slowing down. Once you slow down, you’ll find that feeling opens up… almost as if you could dive into it…, that’s exactly what you’ll do as a tantric… you’ll become immersed in feeling, and then you’ll follow the feeling back to it’s subtlest, most blissful aspect. The feeling will dissolve into emptiness, and then re-emerge, even more blissfully, light opening up out of darkness, and then dissapearing again, like nightswimming under the stars…

feel that for a moment, and then let’s make it more practical… Let’s really make that yours. We’ll start with self-massage, and moving to self-pleasure…

You are massage yourself after a workout or meditation, and you want to really lose yourself in the sensation. You’re not going to just knead yourself while staring at the TV or talking to friends. Scientific studies show that your brain tells your body to direct more blood flow to that tight muscle only when you place your full attention in the area you’re touching, Directed awareness means more oxygen, more removal of lactic acid and other toxins, more nerve
control over each muscle fiber, more ability to selectively relax and contract individual muscle fibers, and more circulation through your tiniest capillaries.

Now that you are rubbing your muscles down, give yourself that massage through a range of delicious body positions. Don’t stay in just one. Program your nervous system to relax, be aware, and regenerate througout each limb’s relaxed range of motion, not just in one boring position. We’re helping your body to relax all the time, because this is the way of all ancient relaxation methods. You can do it just like the ancients with Tibetan Kum Nye, Chinese Fang Song Gong, or Kashmiri Sarangi relaxation…

Now, when you self-pleasure, move your body as well and feel it in each position… And now that you’re becoming a tantric, now you become aroused with sensations, not old ideas. You might notice that old fantasies and erotic images feel constricting to you, feel mechanical… feel boring… you want something deeper, more full-filling. Pornography and romance novel descriptions might not fulfill you, you might want to feeel everything… feeel the sensations, feeel the emotions, the total absorption in that moment, as everything sloows down… You touch each part of your skin, creatively, like playing an instrument, in all the positions you’d like to make love in. You feel your own hands as if they were your lovers, different fingers, different body positions, different motions, touching different places. You touch your whole body, not just your groin, and your whole body comes alive… You feel your body move into new positions, positions you haven’t done before.

Gently stretch the muscles and nerves of your body as you touch yourself. Simple yoga postures can provide enormous pleasure this way…each new sensation a new moment of pleasure. Notice, experience how and where the pleasure arises, where it increases… Relax and arouse the nerves all over your body until its entire surface is humming with energy, but swim in relaxing sensations. Tension means relax more, relax more, feel the layers and surfaces of your body humming…

Now dive deeply into tantrism… When your body is fully aroused, use softer and softer touches, feather-like, with your eyes closed, alternate with fullfilling touches, until you melt into the
sensation. Be aware now, of the pure sensation now, humming around and within the body, you are the sensation now, your consciousness swims with feeling. More arousal now, then down a little, then expansion again, like little waves. This experience with yourself, can be with your lover too. This experience, this energy, is you too…

Relax even more into the sensation, and allow yourself to become aware of the subtlest of sensations as they play over your whole body. The air moving against your skin, the sounds and smells around you.. Your feeling knows how, you understand intuitively, through sensation.

Play like this often, allowing your mind to dissolve into pure sensory awareness, into bliss, and you will eventually feel the subtleness, the point where form and solidity dissapear, and there is only the sensation of tingling energy, and then, as you continue to dissolve,
experiment, and play, there is only bliss and beautiful emptiness, it seems the universe itself dissolves into layers of light and dark, pure emptiness and light, wisdom and primordial bliss…

Smile, breathe slowly, and enjoy…, as you emerge from that knowing you and everything around you, is that…, that you can return to that sensation, that awareness, because it is you… you can experience so many things, just by knowing where to look…
