Underpinnings can mean structural foundations, but also layered undergarments.
Here the term is a playful moniker for the foundation course in a course curriculum of practical tools for experiencing transcendent and immanent realms of eros sublime.
The larger curriculum of which this course is a part, is called The Sensual Sublime™ because it focuses on embodied (sensory) experience of the uplifted, exhalted, and lofty… of numinous bliss in full sensory connection.
It starts with wonder and connection to move through the delights and distastes alike of the sensory world, rather than chasing sensory pleasures in vain hope of a ladder to something more.
Underpinnings is not a course on hedonism as spirituality, but rather an exploration of living fully and sensually in connection to the immanent supernal, via expanded paradigms of embodied sensory aliveness and erotic wonder.
Underpinnings of the Sensual Sublime begins Friday August 28th, 2026, guided by Tao Semko.
The course format is six pre-recorded modules of audio lessons with pdf notes to practice by, followed a tabbed audio Q&A of responses to your anonymized emailed questions for each of the six lessons. A few illustrations and short videos will be thrown in as necessary in the modules and Q&A.
The six lesson modules of Underpinnings of the Sensual Sublime:
Module 1: Inner Orientation – Worldviews, Frames of Perception, Embodied Attitudes, and the Direction of Desire and Pleasure
Module 2: Emptying and Softening – Creating Space
Module 3: Expansion and Elasticity, Expression and Interface
Module 4: Increase and Hormesis
Module 5: Creating and Cultivating, Savoring vs. Slavering
Module 6: Inter-dependent Inter-connection – Presence, Pulsation, Polarity and Union
Each lesson module is released two weeks after the previous one, with timestamped audio Q&A responses released one week after each lesson.
Underpinnings is the first and likely longest of the Sensual Sublime courses. It introduces shifts in perceptual identity, worldview, intent, posture, behavior, and expression that completely re-shape one’s experience of Sensuality, Eros, and Spirituality, whether one is currently single or partnered.
The course is presented from the viewpoint of decades of academic and personal experience and exploration, a vast library of spirituo-erotic art and science, multiple lineages of formal and informal initiation and practice in traditional yogas including se+ual yogas, se+ual energy cultivation, and inner alchemy, interviews with lineage masters and fellow practitioners, romantic and erotic mystical experiences and Western sociological and physiological studies, and more.
The basics presented in Underpinnings are enough for a lifetime of nuanced exploration and profound experience, while the curriculum of courses that follow reveals a masterful interweaving of many-colored threads of sublime action and being.
Course tuition is $300. Materials access is evergreen via login on this website. Audio Q&A responses to emailed questions on the course materials and experiences with them, are provided during the course duration of 12 weeks each year. To keep the Q&A scope focused, Tao will not be answering questions about opinions, materials, or practices not featured in the course.
