Tantra Tips: Satisfaction and Bliss

‘Wherever you find satisfaction, the very essence of bliss will be revealed to you if you remain in this place without wavering.’
— The VijnanaBhairava, Stanza 74, translation by Daniel Odier/ Claire Marie Frock

The VijnanaBhairava has over 112 of these tantric ‘micropractices.’
Try this one as many times as you can remember today today, for just 20 or 30 seconds:

As you do something that brings you satisfaction of any kind, become completely present in that sensation of satisfaction. Do not judge your satisfaction as ‘good’ or ‘bad’, just remain in the relaxed awareness of your satisfied feeling. Do it for 20-30 seconds, and then resume your ‘normal’ living.

Some examples:
1. Tasting good food.
2. Seeing or hearing a loved one
for the first time today.
3. Turning on the shower
4. Shaving
5. Having a smoke break.
6. Drinking your first cup of coffee
7. Smelling a great perfume, a good wine, or the nape of a loved one’s
neck.
8. Walking the dog, or feeding the cat.
9. A runner’s high,
10. A weightlifter’s ‘pump’
11. A kiss
12. An orgasm
13. a good read
14. breathing
15. making a sale
16. buying something on sale
17. watching your team make a touchdown
18. getting a manicure
19. getting a shampoo
20. swallowing
21. warming up
22. shivering

And so on…

Cumulatively, if you do practice this ‘remaining in your satisfaction’ only 30 times for 30 seconds today, you will have remained in pure awareness for 15 minutes of your day. Not a bad start.

Smile, breathe right, and keep your tongue up!
